Easily create a 3D text effect with the help of this FREE Photoshop action. Use this 3D Photoshop action to quickly create 3D text effects that you can then further style yourself. The action set includes 2 3D styles: plain and a style like on the preview image.

Be sure to use this on relatively bid text size (100px-120px or bigger). Our demo was made using 120px text (font: Open Sans). To get the most our of this action, basic knowledge of Photoshop is needed. Fully editable 3D text effect. This action was made using CS6.

You can use this on any color text and style it to your liking.

Let’s go through the settings:

Open a new document and write your text, preferably use font sized 100px – 120px. Make sure the text layer is selected and then run the action.

The action will give you a popup to select the color of the 3D effect. Make sure there is enough contrast between your text and the 3D effect. Make the effect darker, lighter or even different color. If you regret your color chose you can change it later.

To change the color of the 3D effect later, double click on the GROUP and edit the groups layer style and change the color under ‘Color Overlay’. You can also change the very first text layer color the same way or you can edit the smart object.

You can adjust the shadows later as well by editing the smart filters.

If you want to change the word just edit the smart object of any layer.

Now you can go and style your 3D effect and come up with some cool designs. Use these 3D texts on flyer templates and other design projects.
